How to resize an image for passport or visa

Four steps, a few seconds, zero uploads.

1

Add your photo

Drag your image onto the box above, or click Browse. JPEG, PNG, and WebP are all accepted.

2

Choose a preset or custom size

Pick UK Passport, US Passport, Schengen Visa, LinkedIn, or type your own pixel dimensions.

3

Pick a fit mode

Crop to fill fills the exact frame and trims edges. Fit with padding scales the image down and adds white space to fill the rest.

4

Download and verify

Save your resized image. Always check the exact pixel dimensions and any other requirements before submitting an official document photo.

Frequently asked

What size should a UK passport photo be?

UK passport photos must be 35 mm wide by 45 mm tall. For digital submissions, the UK Government guidance specifies 600 × 750 pixels. Always verify with the official gov.uk guidance before submitting.

What size should a US passport photo be?

US passport photos must be 2 × 2 inches (51 × 51 mm). At 300 dpi that is 600 × 600 pixels. Check the U.S. Department of State website for the latest requirements before submission.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Nothing is sent to a server — the tool works offline too.

What is the difference between "Crop to fill" and "Fit with padding"?

Crop to fill scales the image so it covers the full target frame, then trims the edges. The result has no white bars but some content near the edges may be cut. Fit with padding scales the image to fit entirely within the frame and fills the remaining space with white — no content is lost, but white bars may appear.

Can I use custom pixel dimensions?

Yes. Select "Custom dimensions…" from the preset menu and type your target width and height in pixels. Maximum 8000 × 8000 px.
