Built to keep your
files yours.
Latch is a set of fast, free file utilities that run entirely in your browser. No file ever touches a server — every conversion, resize, and metadata strip happens locally on your device using the same JavaScript engine that powers the web.
Your files never leave this deviceWhy on-device?
Actually private
A server that never receives your file can never leak it, sell it, or hand it to anyone. That's a stronger guarantee than any privacy policy can offer.
Fast by default
No upload, no queue, no download from a remote server. Processing starts the moment you drop a file and finishes locally — often in under a second.
Works offline
Once the page loads, Latch has everything it needs. Spotty connection, no connection — doesn't matter. Your files keep converting.
Who's behind this?
Latch is an independent project, built out of genuine frustration with file converter sites that ask you to upload photos, passports, and documents to servers you know nothing about. The fix felt obvious: do the work in the browser, where your files never have to leave.
All five tools available today handle single-pass conversions — convert HEIC to JPG, swap between PNG and JPG, strip EXIF metadata, convert WebP, or resize for passport photos and LinkedIn. More are on the way, all following the same zero-upload principle.
